What to expect
A photography session lasts 1 - 2 hours depending on the type of photos desired and the behaviour of the dog.
I will send the client a form to complete prior to meeting, and discuss the owner’s needs and the aims of the session.
Examples of different photoshoot ideas include
Action shots of the dog running, jumping or catching
The dog with his or her favourite toy
Candid shots of the dog, capturing natural behaviours
Posed shots of the dog sitting, laying down, standing or in a show stack
The dog performing tricks
Headshots
Natural props, prompting the dog to interact with the environment such as laying on a log, sitting next to a tree or in a patch of flowers, swimming in a river, digging in leaves
A portrait of the dog with the owner or family, or with additional dogs
Close ups of nose, eyes, paws, markings, collar etc
Dogs can be kept on lead for the session if needed (I can edit this out afterwards), and with their collar on or off depending on the client’s preference. I ask that the owner brings some high quality treats to encourage and reward their dog, as well as any toys if they want to include them in the photos. I will also have treats and toys as a backup, but items that your dog is familiar with often work best.
I will direct the owner where to place and position the dog. We may have to have repeated attempts at some shots to ensure that we have achieved the desired results.
Though the majority of my work is based on dogs, I am able to photograph other animals too. Ideas for these sessions will be done on a case by case basis.
In the days following the photoshoot I will present the client with a gallery of photos to choose from. I will recommend photos which I feel are the best in terms of composition and quality, but ultimately the client is free to select their photos themselves. Over the following week, I edit and retouch the photos that were chosen and email the client a link to download their full resolution digital images from. I can also order physical prints from my supplier for an extra charge.
(please note that the watermarks on my images will be smaller and more discrete for client copies.)
